Of Mice & Men / Marilyn Manson – Auburn WA : August 11 2016

Another great show at the White River Amphitheater Thursday night. The line-up was Of Mice & Men, Marilyn Manson and Slipknot, so quite a heavy show. We were actually there mostly for Marilyn Manson as we have never seen him before and this was on our list of must see artists. We have seen of Mice & Men a few times and as always they put on a great show. Love their music.

Marilyn Manson definitely did not disappoint in the on stage theatrics and overall stage show. What a great stage presence, I can only imagine what it would be to meet him in person. The setlist was full of great songs such as Disposable Teens, Irresponsible Hate Anthem and closing the set was of course The Beautiful People. My favorite though was Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These) – an old Eurythmics song which he performed walking the stage on stilt.

Great show!

In This Moment – White River Amphitheater – Auburn WA : July 27 2016

Enjoyed a concert with the whole family which sadly does’t happen as often as it used to. We went to the “Return of the Dreads” tour with KORN and Rob Zombie at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn WA. but really went to see the opening act, In This Moment. We have seen them a few times and is one of Nicki’s favorite bands and they never disappoint in putting on a fabulous ‘shock rock’ performance. Maria Brink has such a powerful voice and the theatrics, stage show and costumes are just over the top (in a good way). They put on about an hour show at which time we all decided that we were not really in the mood to see KORN and Rob Zombie and decided to go have a good meal.

Sting / Peter Gabriel – Key Arena – Seattle WA : July 21 2016

Great and fun show last night at Key Arena with Sting and Peter Gabriel for their Rock, Paper Scissors tour. What a great pairing with these two great performers who clearly loved performing with each other last night.

It was a different type of co-headlining show, where typically one band will perform their set followed by the other. This show had them trading off songs as well as joining in on each other’s songs. What an incredible library of songs they had too… they played for over two and a half hours with what I think were 23 songs in their main set and two encore songs. They held absolutely nothing back when it came to their performances, embellishing a few of the songs with jam sessions and extended and alternate arrangements. …truly amazing! One of the highlights of the show last night (of course for the Seattle audience) was Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam coming out and performing with the guys. Vedder sat-in with Peter Gabriel on Peter’s solo hit Red Rain and he also helped lead Sting’s band through The Police classic Driven To Tears. A few of my favorite songs of the night were Invisible Sun, Games Without Frontiers, Big Time, Englishman in New York and of course Roxanne.

One of the best shows of the year for sure.

Steven Tyler – McCaw Hall – Seattle WA : July 8 2016

Had an absolutely fabulous time at the Steven Tyler show at McCaw Hall in Seattle last night. As I am a big Aerosmith fan and admire Steven Tyler as a great entertainer, I decided to do the meet and greet to get up close and personal, and to get a photo taken with him…he didn’t disappoint. Although I didn’t have a whole lot of time to ‘chat’, I was able to exchange a few words, shake his had and get my pic with him (to be sent in 5-7 days…what?). It’s always fun to do the VIP to get in early, meet new people, enjoy some snacks and drinks and just have a good time before the show. I met a few other “solo” fans and we all had a great time sharing stories of our past concerts and musical interests.

The show itself was incredible. The band was energetic and all genuinely looked to be having a great time. Steven Tyler puts on such a great show. He always has a smile on his face, is engaging with the women (and men) in the crowd and just puts everything he has into making the show something special for everyone.

The selection of songs were perfect..just the right mix of his new music, Aerosmith tunes and even a couple of covers. They did a great rendition of Janis Joplin’sPiece of my Heart“. Of course one of the favorites of the night and all Aerosmith shows was “Dream On”.

Can’t wait for the upcoming Aerosmith tour!
