Another wonderful performance by Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. I have them four times and they never let the audience down and always perform at 100% even though I believe Neil Giraldo had a bit of a cold tonight. Pat Benatar can belt out the lyrics as she has always done with phenomenal range and Neil Giraldo can play the guitar like it’s an extension of his body and soul. It is actually funny how he occasionally gets carried away playing during songs and you can tell from her face and expressions that he was doing just a little more than she had planned…they are such a pair to watch…obviously in love and with great chemistry.
Their sets list was incredible with all their hits and some obscure songs done by just the two of them without the band. Kind of cool. For me the best song of the night was Hell is for Children…very powerful song. Hit Me with Your Best Shot was also especially awesome! She actually told a short, little story about one of their first hits, a story that I should have remembered (due to it’s revolutionary relevance to my early musical influence) that her song/ video You Better Run, was the second video ever played on MTV, just a little over 37 years ago today, on August 1st, 1981.
I did the VIP meet and greet before the show and was able to meet and say a few words to Pat, but unfortunately Neil was a no show for the meet and greet for what was likely his cold. Anyway, below is a pic of me with her prior to the show.
