Olivia Newton-John – Snoqualmie WA : August 25th 2016

So tonight wasn’t a night of head banging heavy metal rock, but a night of soft, beautiful soft rock with Olivia Newton-John at the Mountain View Terrace at Snoqualmie Casino.

First of all all, what a top notch, first class venue this was. This was the first time I had been to this particular venue and I was very impressed with everything about it…the size was intimate, the sound was incredible, a beautiful view and the choice of food and drinks were beyond what is typically available at concert venues (and the prices were reasonable). I would certainly look forward to seeing a show here in the future.

Olivia came on a little after 7:00pm opening with two of my favorites Suddenly and Xanadu followed by an amazing set of hits of songs that I hadn’t heard in many, many years. When she started singing Have You Never Been Mellow, it brought me straight back to my preteen childhood of 1975. Of course the crowd completely went crazy with the set of songs from the movie Grease, You’re the One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Summer Nights and We Go Together. She wrapped her her show a little before 9:00pm with a very beautiful version of Over the Rainbow from the film The Wizard of Oz.

She put on a simply wonderful show and sounded and looked great.

VANS Warped Tour – Portland OR : August 12 2016

The four of us trucked it down to Portland for The Vans Warped Tour yesterday. We originally had tickets for the show in Auburn WA., but found out that Guns N’ Roses was also performing that night in Seattle, so we had to see our Auburn Warped tickets and buy for Portland the following day. We have see the show 4 years in a row and hope to be able to see it for many years in to come. It is such a great experience with all the great bands, food, merchandise and of course people watching. The only problem with this year was the heat. It was over 90 degrees and as these shows are held in parking lots, there is typically no shade and is was no different this year at the Expo Center (parking lot) in Portland. We saw many dehydrated kids having to be carried off on stretchers by the very busy emergency response folks.

We all had a great time. We were able to see see most of the bands we wanted to before getting overwhelmed with heat and having to leave. We were able to see Tsunami Bomb, From Ashes to New, We the Kings, Veil of Maya, Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills and Set it Off. Unfortunately with the conflict in sets, we were not able to see Falling in Reverse and we couldn’t see Issues because we were just too damn hot.

Bob Dylan – Chateau Ste Michele Winery – Woodinville WA : June 4 2016

Bob Dylan at the Winery tonight. Was a great show and a beautiful  evening in Woodinville Wa.

Bob sounded and looked great.

Paul Simon – Chateau Ste Michele Winery – Woodinville WA : May 29 2016

Paul Simon put on a great show last night at the Winery in Woodinville. It was a nice night and after a day of very heavy rain, it cleared up right before the show and ended up being a clear warm evening.

He came on at around 7:30 and played around 25 songs ending with the encores of five songs with the last song being one of my all time favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs The Boxer.

Buddy Guy – Pantages Theater – Tacoma WA : May 25 2016

Had a great time at the Pantages Theater in Tacoma on Wednesday night. Buy guy put on an incredible show and was as entertaining as usual. I have seen Buddy a few times, and each time he puts on a very entertaining show. His stories about growing up and his early days, his relationships with some of the music greats and hearing a person of his generations thoughts and insights on today’s issues was fun to hear.
