The Doobie Brothers/ Steely Dan – Key Arena – Seattle : June 5th 2018

Another great show in Seattle last night. Great combo classic rock show with The Doobie Brothers opening up for Steely Dan.

I have to say, after the absolutely incredible show and song set selection by The Doobies, it was impossible for Steely Dan to follow up. I have to hand it to Donald Fagen and his band, but the atmosphere was charged and unfortunately, in my opinion, they just could not keep it going.

This was the second time I had seen The Doobie Brothers in the last couple years, and I don’t remember them being as good or as powerful as they were last night. I was always a Doobies fan, but thought my self partial to the Michael McDonald version of the doobies until I was reminded of ALL of the incredibly awesome music that original, early ’70’s guitar and vocals members Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons were responsible for recording. John McFee rounded out the amazing guitar trio and also played a mean violin and harmonica. It seemed like it was just hit after hit for over an hour and a half with such great songs as, Rockin’ Down the Highway, South City Midnight Lady, Jesus Is Just Alright, Eyes of Silver, Takin’ It To the Streets, Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While), Black Water, Long Train Runnin’ and two awesome encore songs, China Grove and Listen to the Music.

It was also a special show as I was able to do a short meet and greet with the guys from the Doobie Brother before the show. They were very nice and actually seemed as though they enjoyed meeting and talking to us fans.
